Windows 10 Features

The latest Anniversary update of Windows 10 really provided a bunch of user-friendly and amazing features. A lot of these features were loved and appreciated by the users to a great extent. These were indeed the features that made the life of windows user a lot easier. Some of them led to the improvement in functionality, while somewhere there to enhance up the performance of the windows. One major change was that now you don’t have to work in order to boost the speed of your PC (something you used to do earlier in windows XP and 7).

In this post, I have covered some of these features. If you haven’t tried them, you should consider giving them a try.

Toggling the audio source with ease : The new windows helps you to switch between various different modes with ease. With this feature, you can control your audio devices, both input, and output. The taskbar has also been given a proper new makeover. This translates to the fact that you can switch from your pc speakers to headphone and vice versa without any issue.

All new command prompt tools : In the new update of windows, Microsoft has introduced a bunch of new command line features. This added the ability to copy and paste commands into the terminal with CTRL + C and CTRL + V. All you need to do in order to activate this feature is open your command prompt, right-click, go to properties. From there you can find all the new features under “Edit” options of options tab.

Updated Cortana : This version of Cortana would help your phone get more close to your PC. In the new version, you can access your smartphone’s notification on PC itself. If this was not enough, you can also respond to those notifications via Cortana. The application would pull down them down and then respond to them. The app also gives warnings of critical things such as the low battery warnings, this will alert you as of when to charge your smartphone.

One of the best parts is that it can handle all sorts of commands in your natural and native accent. This includes things such as creating notes, setting reminders, playing music, checking weather and much more. Users can also use Cortana enable window’s lock screen. Doing this is pretty simple, all you need to do is to go to “cog” icon and select “use Cortana even if the device is locked”.
Calendar : In its last update, Windows rolled out some pretty decent functions into the taskbar. The new taskbar now integrates the core calendar app as well. Making and checking the schedule got a lot easier when you click on the time or date, the calendar will pop-up and show you the schedule and details for that particular day.
Dark side : Much like star wars, this was one of the most requested features from windows users right from their anniversary update. Windows made a lot of changes and came up with the most awesome looking dark theme for the windows user base. To activate it, you need to check it out in Settings > personalization and then colors.
Remote Support : Companies are now more interested in letting their employees work from their home on their personal devices. Another thing they considered is hiring consultants and contractors who supposed to use their personal computers rather than using a corporate device. For this, Microsoft’s Azure active directory helps the administrators to manage the systems security which can’t be joined to the domain. This way, windows is catering remote support to those external machines.

Find my device : This might be an apple mac inspired feature but it’s good. The feature as the name suggests helps you to track down your device when required. In the last update of windows, they added up another feature to their long list of upgrades. All you need to do in order to upgrade and use this feature is to go to Start > Update and security and click on Find my device.

From there, you will find a change button, click on it and enable the save my device location periodically if prompted. In this way, you can track down your device and wehre it has been on regular intervals. To check where your device was last used you need to go the Microsoft account click on account.microsoft.com/devices to check last location of your devices.

Conclusion – Are you a windows 10 user, are there any features in the new update that you liked or disliked, tell us in the comments.
