Most anticipated horror games of 2016

Posted on Sep 17, 2016 by in Gaming | 0 comments

For all those who love gore on their gaming platter would have had a hell lot of fun time last year as a host of horror was dished out for them with extra warm cheese on top. A few terribly gone incidents such as the cancellation of a few most anticipated games such as Silent Hills must have left the die-hard Gerard Butlers love-lorn. But still, the year 2015 was the spookiest of all I remember with loads of gore and blood splattering all around. Some of the best horror games were launched by the leading makers of the industry.

The year 2015 is now a forgotten story of walking deads. It is time to move beyond our pasts and find new taste of blood in the horror games of current year. The horror story of 2016 is not less exciting than that of 2015. Some of the scariest games are in the pipeline this year too. These games stand out for their intriguing stories, out of the world action, and popularity. We take a look at some of the spookiest horror games of 2016. Here we go:

The Scariest Road is the Allison Road

There is something intriguing about the names of roads in the country. Every time the title of a game or movie is inspired by their names you feel swarmed over by some paranormal activities around. I don’t know if it is true but that is what that happens with me most of the time.

So when I heard about the slated release of the Allison Road, I knew it was going to be one of the most exciting games of the town soon. For those who had not been able to come to terms with the removal of Silent Hills from play stations should be able find a little solace from the Allison Road. The trailer was promising. This teenage girl in her leisure wear, with blood all over her body, walking down the aisle is spine chilling. On the walls is the title of the Road—Allison Road.

We are looking forward to the Allision Road. This horror game is slated for October release. It will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Friday Night is Still the Deadliest Night in the Town: Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th is probably the most popular horror movie series in the world. After setting all the box office records on big screen, the plot of the movie has been successfully adapted for the die-hard gaming zombies around the world. Only the name is enough to pull the crowd and it does not even require introduction amongst the masses at all.

What I personally like about this horror game is its villain and the mystery around him. This guy is just wearing a mask and still can beat shit out of you. He is creepiest villains in the world. Critics in the beginning panned down the version as it was on the lines of Allison Road Kickstarter but Friday the 13th Kickstarter seems promising. It is not possible to determine the fate of a particular game based on the version of the one that failed a long back.

It is an asymmetrical multiplayer game wherein a player takes control of Jason Voorhees and other control camp counselors. Friday the 13th has been one of my favorite movie titles. I am a huge fan of the franchise and I am looking forward to experience the game anytime soon.

The game will be released at the end of this year. It will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Unraveling the Layers of Fear

Layers of Fears is probably the most exciting game on the list with a strong storyline as well. You know what a good horror experience cannot build just upon terrible faces and isolated chambers in the wood. They should be backed up by a good story. And this is exactly what Layers of Fears has done to keep you glued to your gaming devices.

The name of the game is also enchanting. Layers of Fears! Wow! It feels like fear is skinning you rapidly without caring for how much pain you are feeling at the moment. Talking about its plot, it is about a self-proclaimed Leonardo Da Vinci, I mean a painter, who has gone into madness in his pursuit to create a masterpiece. He has taken to alcoholism. He is a psychopath. It is a first-person explanatory game.

Layers of Fears is inspired by Silent Hills P. T. just like Allision Road. Chances of it becoming the next horror gaming blockbuster are high.

The game will be released somewhere around the end of the year.

To Survive in the Game You Got To Outast: Outlast 2

The first installment of the game became a huge hit overnight. Outlast 2 is solely sailing high in the industry with the popularity of its previous version. This is why the horror game fans are waiting with the bated breaths for the second installment. One of the top reasons why it has become such a rage amongst masses is its plot. The game is unique combination of a found footage genre and survival horror-game. The fans are pretty much hopeful for its success this year as well.

Unlike its first version where the story was set in the wooded country side, the Outlast 2 seems to be trying to get a makeover this year. It may try to explore some religious theme of horror. If this is so then it is going to be a hell lot of exciting. No game has ever tried to tread on the same path before. Looking forward to one of the most promising horror games this year.

Outlast 2 will be released this fall on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Overkill’s the Walking Dead: Set out to Rule the Industry Once Again

If you are already a huge Walking Dead fan then you know the franchise was always a huge success world over. The television series by the same too name garnered positive reviews from critics. The video game adaption was thus a very predictable move by its makers but we did not that the game too will taste the same fate as that of its other versions.
The previous version went on to become a major hit due to its TelTale’s episodic adventure. However, the makers of this horror game are now all set to give this game a big makeover.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead is an FPS co-op gameplay. We will have to wait and see whether the experiment planned by the maker reaps fruit or not. Overkill is the developer of the game called Payday. This Overkill is all set to add its dash of horror in the Walking Dead series with its Overkill’s the Walking Dead.

The game will be released at the end of this year on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

So What’s Your Perception about Horror, Huh?

What would think of a Hollywood movie directed by Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Christian Bay, and Christopher Nolan? It will be a hell lot of entertainment without any question because all the stalwarts of the industry are coming together on one single platform.

The same goes with the one of the most anticipated games of the year Perception. The makers of blocbuster games BioShock and Dead Space have come together to establish The Deep End Games. Perception is the first game developed by The Deep End Games. So the fans world over are now going gaga over this upcoming horror game this year whose makers had in the past raised the bars of gaming.

The story of the game is slightly from those common plots. The protagonist is a blind lady trying to explore an isolated and dark mansion in the wooded countryside. Perception is packed with a strong storyline with loads of Christopher Nolan like twists and turns. Perception is going to introduce a unique art that will represent echolocation. There is no doubt that this horror game has loads of good chances to become the number one horror of the year 2016.

The game is already out in the market. It is available on PCs.

Lurking it Around with Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster

Resident evil is one of the most popular horror movie franchises of all time. Its gaming adaption lived up to the legends of the movie and went on to become one of best horror games of all time as well. Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster is packed with loads of new modern gaming technologies and experiences for its fans. However, the industry could not fathom the decision to remaster the Resident Evil Zero HD by Capcom right after the success of Resident Evil HD Remaster.

One of the best features of this horror game is that the game boasts some of the best upgraded versions, better and more control options for gamers. Billy and Rebecca have gotten an interesting makeover in this game. There is this unique mode that allows gamers to take control of the villain Albert Wesker.

Packed with so many features, there is no doubt that the makers of the game have left no stone unturned to make it a hot favorite amongst new gamers and those who have already lost their virginity to these horror games.

What’s your daily Routine?

I am a huge fan of this game and its mysterious storyline. When you combine mystery with horror, the combination is the deadliest of all I believe. The same theory has been applied to this game. The story of the Routine horror game is set in some Lunar Research Station. This is so much different from the setups we have seen before. There is this 80s vision in the game with an art style. This is a first-person self-explanatory game. What I personally love about this game is its task. The gamer is required to find out what went wrong with the missing crew of the station. The job in itself is very intriguing and mysterious. Permadeath is there that leaves you with no time to take control over your enemies.

These things make it a hell lot of a tough horror game. Routine is touted to be one of the most promising games of the year 2016. There will be no surprise if the game one day becomes a hit. Routine will be released this year on PC.

We the Happy Few Leaves You Scared and Teary Eyes

The title of the game is slightly confusing. It is more like a game of fun than a game of ghosts and zombies. When I heard the title for the first time I was like are you talking about a horror game or something of duck tales? But that’s the trickiest part of the game. We the Happy Few is probably the scariest game on the list today.

The people of the town have their faces painted and they may look funny to some in the beginning. But they are actually not funny. They will spook the shit out of you. There is a dark to all those funny faces with paints. I mean it reminds me of the madness of Joker in the Dark Night. The joker had the funniest face in the world. But it was the most unnerving at the same time. The same dark theory is applied to the citizens of Wellington Wells.

A drug called Joy is the reason behind the happiness of citizens in Wellington Wells. They are actually being controlled by the drug. The hero of the game avoids the drug and the citizens are then attacked by some psychopath disturbed maniacs with their faces painted. It is survival horror game. It is promising and seems to be one of the scariest games in the industry today. It may become a chart buster after the release.

We the Happy Few has been released in the market. It is available on Xbox One and PCs.

What Remains of Edith Finch?

All right! This horror game on the list has one of the most interesting and scariest storyline. The moment I was going through it I was like really! The trailer of—What Remains of Edith Finch?—is the spookiest I have seen in the recent time. The makers have not left any stone unturned to make this horror extravaganza a history in the horror genre.

Giant Sparrow has developed the game. The makers have previously developed The Unfinished Swan, which was a huge hit a few years back. One of the best things about The Unfinished Swan was that the game was critically acclaimed all over the world. The experts of the industry were going gaga about The Unfinished Swan.

So when the next horror game by the Giant Sparrow is due for release this year. The expectations are already high. People are looking forward to experience the game. What Remains of Edith Finch? is a first-person explanatory game. This is the first time the developers have forayed into such a genre.

The plot revolves around Edith Finch who in the game is reliving last moments of her family members to know why she was not killed. This is a hell of an interesting storyline for those who are bored of killing zombies in some isolated towns.

Significant gameplay and tonal shifts depending on the personality of the family member of Edith Finch make the game even more interesting. What Remains of Edith Finch? stands out for its emotional drama that we have not experienced in all of the above horror games on the list. This horror game looks promising and may make it to the top on the list of the spookiest games of 2016.
