Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

Posted on Aug 31, 2016 by in Gaming, Reviews | 0 comments

So the Acer Aspire E5 – 575G – 53VG version seems to be emerging as the real inspiration for the brands trying to break into the under $600 category with performance for a long time now. A device equipped with unmatched gaming chops and performance better than Olympic medal guzzler Usaine Bolt himself can send shivers down the spine of any staunch Gerard Butler of gaming. Priced at just $ 550, this is the cheapest nuclear bomb to sweep you off your feet completely without giving you a chance to realize what has just happened.

Let’s review the bomb in detail below feature by feature. Here we go buddy:

The shape and design of the beast called Acer Aspire E5 – 575G – 53VG

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

All right! The beast’s got the looks of George Clooney with a jaw-dropping sculpted body. However, one of the main spoilers is its black plastic body that does not fit the overall look of the machine. Its non-metallic shiny body tone is somewhat a turn off as reducing price by reducing overall looks does not make any sense for a lot of people. It is not worth it. Reducing price for extra benefits works in the market not the other way round.

So as said, it’s got a plastic body, don’t hope for any metallic touch anywhere on the chassis. Another spoiler in its branding is its weight, which is close to 5.27 pounds. This George Clooney is slightly overweight at this size. There is no dearth of other such beast at relatively lighter weights. Since we have talked about its size, then it’s slightly bulky as well. There are other well-shaped options in the market for buyers. They might not shy away from paying extra bucks whatsoever.

Screen and Display

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

The overall display of the machine appears quite crisp in the beginning. But as you spend some time into the device, you start realizing the glitch slowly. Despite a standard 1080 p resolution, it lacks accuracy in color and the output thus retrieved is dull and disappointing.

Those who fair well in theory may not do always good in the battle ground. The same theory applies in the case of Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG. It passed the colorimeter test with remarkable marks. However, when put into action it felt like we were setting fire on a damp squib. To test it further, I watched an episode of How I met your mother? on it and was quite surprised to see the flashy color combinations of the stars in there. Its 15.6 inch screen does not help either.

Keypad and touchpad

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

The above theory comes back to haunt Acer’s Aspire E5-575G-53VG touchpad and its functionalities. Its 4.1 X 3.0 inch touchpad is like a mirage in a dry deadly desert. It simply does not exist if it does not perform. The same goes for its keyboard that is like rubbers moulds arranged in order to perform like alphabetical keys.

However, the best way to judge a keyboard of a machine is by taking a simple typing test on any of the free tools available on the internet. My speed was 130 words per minute with around 3 errors on Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG. On the contrary, it was around 131 words with my own laptop without any error whatsoever. May be, I am too used to with my own keyboard that’s why I scored well on it. But the ease of working was missing in the Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG that I am sure is not related to my addiction to my machine.

Performance

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

The Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG beast is powered by i5 – 6200U processor and 2.3 GHZ dual-core power. Although its screen and keyboards were big spoilers, its 8 GB RAM and 256 SSD makes it a hell of machine ready to take on just any task anytime.

Even if several sites and applications are opened on this laptop, there is no way it can slowdown at any time. To check its efficiency I too tried it and was surprised to see it working the way it was. Simply amazing! It scored very well on productivity that according to me is a good even if it’s a few points down compared to other leading laptop brands such HP or so.

Battery Life

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

When it comes to performing unstoppable, then the Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG is the best machine in the i5 15 inch screen category. It lasted for 9 hours and 42 minutes non-stop. Other top machines in the same category don’t even come close. HP Notebook was around 5 hours or so.

Heat management

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

The machine is hot but do we mean that literally? Yes. In the case of Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG, it is absolutely true. The heat will not be felt anywhere that much but the underside of the machine will start almost scorching you after some time. I started feeling the heat after 17 minutes or so into surfing videos on youtube. The machine seriously defies the purpose of creating laptops—portability. If it gets so hot then you got to work on desktops only.

Webcam

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

Its webcam quality is below average. Most of the pictures taken by the camera were totally blurry. Color accuracy was still bearable. I would recommend using its camera for professional video conversations only on Skype. Otherwise, it’s a crap.

Audio

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

The audio quality of Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG is just all right. Nothing special to talk about it. Just like its webcam, I would recommend it for just professional conversations only like on Skype. In fact, if you are fine with investing a few extra bucks then you can buy a new pair of quality headphones from the brand’s exclusive range.

Warranty

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG: Review

It comes with a one year limited warranty just like other Acer machines. It does not have too many useful software applications preinstalled except a few that caught my attention. Auto Backup is an ideal program on the machine.

Verdict

Despite a few spoilers, Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG is an ideal laptop in the price range of $ 600. It can take on just any task effectively and lasts more than other costly laptop giants.
